"The Bo-Keys breathe new life into classic sounds… A Memphis tour-de-force." — Meredith Ochs, NPR's All Songs Considered
About The Bo-Keys
Classic Memphis soul is red-hot all over the world again. But lost in much of the revival hype is the fact that many of the originators of soul music are still performing with all their funky, booty-shaking charisma.
Thank God, then, for the Bo-Keys! More than a tribute act, this band features the artists who played on history-making soul standards, guys who have played all over the world with some of the biggest names in music: B.B. King, Al Green, Isaac Hayes, Ann Peebles, the Staple Singers, Carla Thomas, Otis Redding, and on and on. They just don't get much more talented and professional than this.
Add to that several younger prodigies who’ve garnered Emmy awards and Grammy nominations. Together, they play fresh Memphis soul, as funky and vibrant as it was on all those thrilling recordings in the '60s and '70s.
The Bo-Keys’ two CDs — The Royal Sessions and Got to Get Back! — have drawn raves from everyone from NPR to USA Today to the New York Times.
The Bo-Keys' recordings and their live show are way more than just another nostalgia act. Scott Bomar and the band bring a respectful but fresh style to the timeless sound of classic, straight-up soul.
