Loveland Duren is one of the finest and most accomplished duos in the country.
Vicki Loveland has been a singer her entire life, working with artists as varied as Alex Chilton, Isaac Hayes, and Albert King, an always-in-demand studio and live vocalist. She is a powerhouse of talent with a wicked sense of humor, an adept songwriting style, and a commanding presence as a performer. Honored in 2014 as an Emissary of Memphis Music, there is simply no one else quite like her.
Van Duren has a survivor's story to tell through his five decades of recording. A prodigious vocalist and champion of song craft, Van has performed and/or recorded with Chris Bell and Jody Stephens of Big Star, Billy Swan, Ringo Starr, and many others. He has released 12 albums, always following his own muse. The result has been a long career of writing and collaborating on great songs. He was featured in the documentary, Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me.
The recent release of the acclaimed documentary Waiting: The Van Duren Story and its soundtrack have raised Van and Vicki's profile around the world, launching an extended tour of the UK and Australia.
Loveland Duren’s first album, Bloody Cupid, brought these two artists together and rewarded fans with its genre-bending soundscapes. Their second album, Next, continued the adventure. Their songs are co-written and amplify their individual talents. In live performance, audiences are awed by the perfect match of these two great voices.
With Loveland Duren, one plus one really does equal far more than two, and the whole world is taking notice.
In a city full of musical royalty, Joyce Cobb is the undisputed Queen of Memphis Jazz.
