Sophisticated, fun, and truly a pleasure to see and hear: Breeze Cayolle & New Orleans is one of the finest traditional jazz combos in the country.
Featuring world-renowned saxophonist and clarinet master Brian "Breeze" Cayolle, the band performs the standards of the 20th century that made New Orleans one of the world's great music cities. Dixieland, blues, traditional jazz — these guys play with elegance and an abiding reverence for this brilliant American art form.
Breeze's bandmates include Memphis legends like Tom Lonardo and Tony Thomas. In New Orleans, Breeze might call on Larry Sieberth or Mitch Woods. His network of talented friends around the world is so deep, you'll never know which musical genius might perform with the band next!
Breeze studied music at the University of New Orleans and honed his craft in the clubs of the Crescent City. He performed with many of New Orleans' finest artists, including Rock 'n Roll Hall of Famer Allen Toussaint, who made Breeze a fixture in his band. After his New Orleans home was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, Breeze relocated to Memphis, where he quickly established himself as a premier player, band leader, and teacher.
A glance at Breeze's musical achievements reveals a road map of American music: touring the world with Toussaint and Elvis Costello; appearing in HBO's Treme and the film What's Love Got To Do With It; appearing on Late Night with Conan O'Brien; swinging as a member of Dr. John's horn section; backing an all-star lineup featuring Bonnie Raitt, Ruth Brown, Sam Moore, and Billy Joel at the Newport R&B Festival; jamming with Fats Domino at Tipitina's; band leader for Ruby Wilson's annual performance at Jazz Fest; and so much more. He's released four albums: Soul Time, State of My Heart, The Gentle Breeze, and In the Tradition (with Michael Jefry Stevens). He's endorsed by Jupiter saxophones, he's an official Sax Gourmet artist. His mastery of sax and clarinet are enhanced by his artistry as a songwriter and sultry vocalist.
Breeze Cayolle will bring uptempo elegance and that world-famous New Orleans flavor to your event.
