About Billy Gibson and the Delta Cats

“Beale Street was my Blues University,” Billy Gibson says, referring to a decade of playing on the street where the blues was born. “For a young musician, all you had to do was look and listen, and you could learn so much.”

Today, Billy and his "Mississippi saxophone" are known worldwide, as he brings a modern sensibility to the century-old genre. A charismatic performer and a master of his craft, Billy can perform as a duo, as a quartet, and with a big, horn-driven band. He also loves giving harmonica lessons to groups and corporate meetings as an ice-breaker (see video).

A true son of the Mississippi Delta, Billy is in constant demand at blues festivals in the U.S. and around the world. He's also a talented songwriter, recording artist, and session player, and he's made guest appearances on many notable albums.

Billy's accolades are too numerous to list, but highlights include

     • endorsed by Hohner Harmonicas

     • Blues Music Award Instrumentalist of the Year (Harmonica)

     • Blues Music Award Nominee (Best New Artist)

     • Beale Street Entertainer of the Year

     • NARAS Premier Harmonica Player Award

Whether he's performing as a duo or with a big band, Billy's style is always engaging and fun — the perfect combination of "authentic" and entertaining.

Thanks to Billy's endorsement with Hohner Harmonicas, we can provide a unique souvenir when you book: a working harmonica with your logo or message (see photo and video). When your audience has the instrument in their hands, Billy teaches a fun lesson on the basics of blues harmonica. Everyone then jams with Billy and the band and gets a memorable keepsake.
